ISR postdoctoral researcher and alum Dr. Priya Ranjan, who earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2003, is also very active in humanitarian work for his native India through his involvement with the group AID (Association for India's Development). Priya's faculty advisor was ISR Director Eyad Abed (ECE/ISR).

Most recently, Priya and AID have been active in efforts to assist Indian victims of the tsunami. Priya was featured on local television news, and was quoted in a story in the Washington Post. In August 2004, Priya also was featured in a story published by India Abroad. AID has made the latest news on the tsunami's effect on India is available on its web site.
