ISR-affiliated Assistant Professor Min Wu (ECE/UMIACS), Professor K.J. Ray Liu (ECE/ISR), and ISR alums Z. Jane Wang and Wade Trappe have received a 2005 Best Paper Award from the IEEE Signal Processing Society.

"Anti-Collusion Fingerprinting for Multimedia" is an "ACC" paper (anti-collusion code for multimedia fingerprinting), one of the first works on the topic in the literature. As a fine example on the synergy of excellent teamwork, it has introduced several pioneering concepts and has been followed by many colleagues in both academia and industry worldwide.

The SPS Best Paper Award honors the authors of a paper of exceptional merit  published in the past three years in one of the transactions  related to signal processing, on the bases of general quality, originality, subject matter, and timeliness. The award will be presented at ICASSP2006.

Wade Trappe received his Ph.D. in 2002 and is now an Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. Jane Wang was a Postdoctoral Research Associate with ECE and ISR during 2002-2004 and is now an Assistant Professor at University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

Previously, the quartet was awarded the European Association for Signal, Speech and Image Processing's (EURASIP) Journal on Applied Signal Processing Best Paper Award for 2004 for a paper titled "Group-Oriented Fingerprinting for Multimedia Forensics."
