ISR External Relations Director Jeff Coriale is the recipient of ISR?s 2013 Susan Frazier Outstanding Systems Engineering Staff Award.
Since 1996, Jeff has served the institute with dedication, helping it to grow in the number and quality of its industry, government and international collaborations, as well as in fostering relations with ISR alumni.
In the past two years, Jeff developed and directs the ISR Associate Partners Program, giving companies the advantage of getting a foot in the door to work with ISR faculty and students. Jeff also has taken on the task of identifying and reaching out to key ISR alumni across the country to build relationships. He was responsible for the success of ISR?s first-ever Alumni Symposium in April 2013.
Jeff has been instrumental in creating and overseeing the international partnership between three research units in the Autonomous Province of Trento, Italy and ISR/UMD researchers. Currently there are three joint projects funded, each at 100K Euro, as well as a pilot student exchange program. Jeff continues to maintain the strong partnership between Toshiba?s Corporate Manufacturing Engineering Center, Japan, and ISR/UMD researchers that he built 13 years ago. Toshiba has sent 17 of their engineers here as Visiting Scientists for up to one year each, to work on joint projects with UMD faculty.
Jeff cares about the best interests of the institute, its faculty and students, and its research and organizational goals. He is always available to both faculty and students to help them further their interests and research. He is constantly on the lookout for opportunities to match faculty with industry and government resources.
