ISR alum Koushik Kar has won a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award for "Local Information Based Distributed Optimization of Resources in Large-Scale Adhoc and Sensor Networks." Kar is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. This is a five-year, $409,939 award.
Kar earned a Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering in 2002. His Ph.D. advisor was Leandros Tassiulas, who is currently an ISR research professor. Kar joined the RPI faculty in 2002.
