Grad student Daniel Fitzgerald has won a 2005-2006 ARCS Scholarship. He is working with Associate Professor Jeffrey Herrmann (ME/ISR), Associate Professor Linda Schmidt (ME/ISR) and ISR-affiliated Associate Professor Peter Sandborn (ME) on the Design for Environment process for Black & Decker. This work first began under an NSF PREMISE grant. Fitgerald's faculty advisors are Dr. Herrmann and Dr. Schmidt. The scholarships are sponsored by the Metropolitan Washington Chapter of the ARCS (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists) Foundation, Inc. ARCS provides science, medicine and engineering scholarships to outstanding students.
