An article on the emerging technology of nanofactories in the Post-Newsweek Media-owned local Maryland paper, Business Gazette, features quotes from Professor Gary Rubloff (MSE-ISR) and Professor Bill Bentley, both researchers in the Maryland NanoCenter. Rubloff, a former director of ISR, is the director of the NanoCenter.

The article explains that nanofactories are pseudo-cells that are swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin, and travel to a specific location in the body. What?s unique about the tiny biochemical factories is that they could potentially use materials already in the body to manufacture medicine at the first sign of infection or disease.
