Professor Dana S. Nau (CS/ISR) is one of three authors of a new book, Automated Planning, published by Morgan Kaufman, a division of Elsevier. The book is written for researchers, practitioners and graduate students in artificial intelligence, robotics, and operations research. Nau's co-authors are Malik Ghallab, LAAS-CNRS; and Paolo Traverso, ITC-IRST.
The book offers a comprehensive, up-to-date resource on both the theory and practice of automated planning. It goes well beyond classical planning, to include temporal planning, resource scheduling, planning under uncertainty, and modern techniques for plan generation, such as task decomposition, propositional satisfiability, constraint satisfaction, and model checking.
