On Nov. 10, ISR-affiliated Professor Yiannis Aloimonos (CS/UMIACS) gave the keynote address at the 29th annual Bremen University Talks in Germany. Aloimonos spoke on "The Grammar of Action and Thought."

His public presentation opened the event, the remainder of which could be attended by invitation only. The broad topic of this year’s talks was "Cognition-Enabled Robotics: Democratising a Disruptive Technology." Some 40 representatives from the international science and business community discussed how scientists, small and medium-sized enterprises and research and innovation policy can successfully and sustainably shape a technology field characterized by high investment. They also addressed how the combination of artificial intelligence and robotics will be the direction for social developments, including the many questions pertaining to the future of work, social consequences, and ultimately the distribution of proceeds from "robot work."

The talks aimed to organize the development of AI and robotics as a community work for the benefit of as many people as possible and to keep access to the information open.
