This year's Charles and Helen White Symposium will explore multi-disciplinary approaches to examining current state-of-the-art research in the exciting areas of cooperative control, swarm technology, and the intersections of biology and engineering, as well as future developments in this field and the crucial applications of these technologies in society today.

Panelists include:

Dr. Naomi Leonard, Edwin S. Wilsey Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Princeton University and 2015 Innovation Hall of Fame Inductee.

Dr. Thomas Curtin, Senior Fellow, Institute for Adaptive Systems, and Senior Principal Research Scientist, Applied Physics Laboratory, University of Washington

Dr. Simon J. Garnier, Director of the Swarm Lab and Assistant Professor, Federated Department of Biological Sciences, New Jersey Institute of Technology

Dr. Derek Paley, Director of the Collective Dynamics and Control Laboratory and Willis H. Young Jr. Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering Education, Department of Aerospace Engineering and Institute for Systems Research, University of Maryland  

The Symposium will be moderated by Rama Chellappa, Chair, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Minta Martin Professor of Engineering at the University of Maryland.

The Charles and Helen White Symposium explores the relationship between engineering innovation and modern society, and may address technical, economic, cultural, political, sociological, and other considerations. The White Symposium directly follows the 2015 Innovation Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

There will be a question-and-answer session following presentations from the above speakers.
