ISR-affiliated Professor Steven Gabriel (CEE) will moderate a Network Modeling Workshop at the Energy Information Administration, U.S. Dept. of Energy on September 4. Gabriel is an international expert on energy market modeling and is being called upon to evaluate and moderate a discussion on natural gas market models for use at the EIA along with other outside experts.
He is also working at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission during his sabbatical year (2014-2015) to develop methods for solving the alternating current optimal power flow (ACOPF) problem as well as investigate other non-convex modeling issues important for power markets worldwide.
