ISR-affiliated Professor Ben Kedem (Math) will be working as a Fulbright Specialist at the New University of Lisbon in Portugal during October.

Kedem will be presenting lectures on the usefulness and application of different areas of statistics and mathematics to encourage undergraduate students to enter this field of study and research. He will help graduate students to fine-tune their study and research plans, and he will work with young faculty who are determining new areas of research. In addition, he will be working with faculty and administrators on faculty development and assessing curriculum and materials.

This project will be a first step in future scientific cooperation between the New University of Lisbon and the University of Maryland, identifying common interests in research.
