Congratulations to ISR-affiliated Professor Ben Shneiderman (CS/UMIACS), who has been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Shneiderman was recognized for his ?contributions to human-computer interaction and information visualization.?

Shneiderman is the founding director of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory.

He was made a Fellow of the ACM in 1997, elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2001, received the ACM CHI (Computer Human Interaction) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001, and most recently was inducted into the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) for his research, software development and scholarly texts on human-computer interaction and information visualization.
