Work performed in Associate Professor S.K. Gupta's (ME/ISR) Virtual Training Studio is profiled in the current issue of the Office of Naval Research's (ONR) Starlink newsletter. The studio uses digital technology to teach workers to assemble, disassemble or repair devices and equipment in a virtual environment before they work on the actual items. It is especially useful for training in manufacturing processes that employees do only intermittently. This is a joint research project between the Naval Surface Warfare Center and the University of Maryland through their cooperative alliance in the Center for Energetic Concepts Development. | Read the story on page 10 (PDF file; scrolling necessary) of Starlink at ONR's web site |
