Small Times, a trade journal for the nano/microtechnology industry, has ranked the University of Maryland #1 in nano research and nano education, and #2 in micro research. The magazine article mentions the new Kim Building, the Maryland Center for Integrated Nano Science and Engineering (M-CINSE), nearly 100 faculty, 120 published papers in 2004, and more than 400 grants for the nanoresearch ranking, and five undergraduate and six graduate level nano courses for the nano education ranking.
This ranking has prompted the PhysOrg.com news service to write an article about how M-CINSE is gaining national recognition.
Professor Christopher Davis (ECE), Professor Neil Goldsman (ECE), Professor Gary W. Rubloff (MSE/ISR), Associate Professor Ray Adomaitis (ChE/ISR), Associate Professor S.K. Gupta (ME/ISR), Associate Professor Reza Ghodssi (ECE/ISR), Assistant Professor Pamela Abshire (ECE/ISR), Assistant Professor Elias Balaras (ME) and Assistant Professor Benjamin Shapiro (AE/ISR) are some of the ISR faculty involved in nanotechonolgy research.
