Professor Anthony Ephremides (ECE/ISR)is the recipient of the 2006 IEEE Information Theory Society Aaron Wyner Distinguished Service Award. Ephremides received the award in recognition of his service and leadership in the field of information theory.

The award was established in memory of Aaron Wyner, who devoted his life and energy to the cause of Information Theory. Ephremides is the third recipient; previous award recipients are Jim Massey of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and Ian Blake of the Bahen Centre for Information Technology at the University of Toronto.

Ephremides will receive the award at the ISIT Awards Luncheon, part of the July 2006 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory in Seattle.
