University of Maryland President Mote has approved Carol Espy-Wilson (ECE/ISR) for promotion to the rank of Professor. Her promotion will be effective July 1, 2007.

Dr. Espy-Wilson's research interests are in integration of engineering, linguistics and speech science in speech communication; speech recognition based on phonetic features to address the limitations of present recognizers (e.g., speaker dependence); speech production; and speech enhancement.
