University of Maryland President Mote has approved Richard La (ECE/ISR) for promotion to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure. His promotion will be effective July 1, 2007.

Dr. La's research interests are in Internet congestion control, resource allocations in wireless networks, network performance modeling, and application of game theory. He won a 2003 National Science Foundation CAREER Award for "Networking Modeling and Resource Allocation." Along with Professor Tony Ephremides (ECE/ISR); Professor John S. Baras (ECE/ISR); and Associate Professor Sennur Ulukus (ECE/ISR) he was an investigator in the 2002 NSF ITR, "Vertical Protocol Integration in Ad-Hoc Wireless Networks."
