The University of Maryland MATRIX Lab now has a new video featuring the innovative researchers and motivated students making use of its state-of-the-art lab spaces and cutting-edge technologies. Watch the video here

The video, shot and edited by videographer Zach Cusson, establishes the lab as a hub for autonomous technologies and uncrewed systems research and education in the Southern Maryland region and the nation as a whole.

MATRIX Lab faculty and partners in government, industry, and academia highlight the impactful work being done in the building as well as the potential for future work. The researchers specifically mention the number of lab spaces and the range of work that can be done in them, as well as the proximity to the neighboring UMD UAS Research and Operations Center and the Naval Air Station Patuxent River. The Southern Maryland region is home to several government agencies, academic institutions, and industry partners focused on autonomy and uncrewed systems, so researchers can work directly with end-users to address needs and improve technologies. The students specifically mention the hands-on, real-world research opportunities available at the MATRIX Lab to enhance classroom education.

The MATRIX Lab is a world-class research and education center open to researchers and students alike. Its spaces, including its new Advanced Manufacturing Lab, the popular and versatile Open Air-Land Lab, the Hydrology Lab (home to the second-largest water tunnel in the state of Maryland) and more are all featured in the video and available to reserve. To connect with the team and reserve lab spaces, email matrix@umd.edu, or learn more about the lab at matrix.umd.edu.
