Distinguished University Professor Gary Rubloff (MSE/ISR) was a keynote speaker at the 18th IEEE International Conference on Nanotechnology, July 23–26. Rubloff spoke on “From Nanostructures to Mesoscale Architectures: Electrochemical Storage for Smart Things.” He is the founding director of the Maryland NanoCenter and the director of the NEES-EFRC (Nanostructures for Electrical Energy Storage Energy Frontier Research Center).
The conference is the flagship annual IEEE conference on nanotechnology, spanning fundamentals in nanomaterials, nanofabrication and nano-characterization to development of nanosensors, nanoactuators and nanoelectronics and photonic devices. The 2018 conference theme is “Nano-Enabled Smart Things.”
The Tyndale National Institute at University College Cork (UCC), in Cork, Ireland is hosting the event. The institute is one of Europe’s leading research centers in integrated ICT hardware and systems. The president of UCC is Patrick O’Shea, former University of Maryland Vice President for Research and chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
