ISR alumnus Qiang Yang has been elected a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for "contributions to understanding and application of intelligent planning, learning and data mining.?

Qiang Yang is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1989 as a student of Professor Dana Nau (CS/ISR). After graduation, he was a visiting researcher at Microsoft Research China and the University of Washington. Prior to his work in Hong Kong, he was on the faculty of the University of Waterloo and Simon Fraser University, both in Canada.
